Zomtober is coming...

I'm not sure who created the banner, but I selfishly stole it from Brummie's Wargaming Blog.

I am looking forward to participating in Zomtober this year, hopefully it will help me get something painted!  My understanding is that it is open to zombies and survivors - I am going to concentrate on zombies.  I have plenty to work on - Wargames Factory zombies and zombie vixens, my copy of Zombicide (seasons 1&2) and Last Night on Earth.  That should be more than enough fodder for the paint table.

Gathering the horde for painting
I took a 3 of the LNOE zombies for test subjects.  I am trying different washes, and wanted to try and decide what to use for the horde.
Test Subject #3
I still need to work out the consistency, but overall I am pleased with the results.  Keep in mind in the picture all I did was block color a few parts and did a wash to see how well it 'stuck'.

Now, hopefully I will get some time to work on them...

  1. Very effective painting on the zed and should be fairly quick to replicate en masse.

    1. Thanks! I had a couple of failures, and I will need to choose good colors for the clothes, but I think it will work.

I'm hoping to really swell the ranks of my horde this Zomtober!

  2. Awesome and welcome aboard. Steal away my good friend Pulp Citizen created it for me though it is a b&w photo of my Mantic Zeds :)

Looking forward to seeing how many zeds we can all get painted by the end of the month!

  3. If you get half of the models you listed finished in October then I'll be impressed. It sounds ambitious, but I'm rooting for you to complete all of them :-) .

  4. That's a lot of work and you could probably push it into Zombember, Zombember (okay, November and December sound a lot alike :D) and all the way to Zombanuary.

Block painting and washing them sounds like the best way to go, it's fast and very efficient!

    1. I figured most of these figures are easy to paint and with the repetition of poses, color changes will be the easy way to go. We'll see what I can get done.

  5. Go for it dude!
I like the result on your test subject. I found quite bright colours work well under a wash, if that's any help.

    1. Thanks for the advice, I will be going with as many bright colors as I can stand... Seriously though, I was pleased with the washed out colors from my test subject. We will see what happens!
